1st Design Tape Mani

I finally cracked and purchased a set of decoration/design tape off Amazon.  I remember reading somewhere that you could get this on ebay, cheap but you had to wait for like a month.  I paid $4 and only waited maybe 5 days and received 10 colors, not that the color mattered that much for what I want to use them for.

I had a wonderful idea of creating this really cute yellow and gray design.  Oh, if things only turned out better!

I started with Sinful Colors Unicorn.  I purchased this polish last year, but this is the first time I used it.  Other bloggers have been going on and on lately about how much they love Unicorn so I decided it was time to use it.  I have partaken of the Kool-Aid and it is yummy! :)  Unicorn is amazing!  I was waiting for it to be streaky and hard to work with...complete opposite.  It was almost opaque in 1 coat and it was so smooth!  I understand why everyone loves it, it is an amazing yellow!!

I  taped off my design.

Here is where things went bad!  I decided to use Revlon Hazy, favorite gray, on top.  I shouldn't have added the 2 coats, all I can say is bad!!!  I tried to fix it with NYC, but there was no fixing this disaster!

I didn't do my right hand, so I removed the polish on the left and started over again with a new design. I couldn't go to work with naked nails! :)

I used Hazy and BM201 to add a Chevron stamp, which turned out great!  Here is my elusive right hand! :)

Left Hand:

At least I got a nice design in the end! :)

  9. The end result is stunning! :D I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with the first attempt. It still looks better than the first time I tried a tape manicure (it was so horrible!! D:).
I wasn't expecting the photo of your nails with the tape on them, so when I scrolled down, the first reaction I had was " AHH!!!" Lol!! XD I'm tired. XD

  15. Yeah, with tape you have to do one nail at a time, only use one coat and rip it off in the opposite direction straight away! I love the colour combo though, and the stamping turned out nice :)

  16. Very nice yellow/gray combo. Did you get the inspiration from all the yellow and gray on pinterest? That's where I did! haha. I really need some striping tape. I always just cut up some scotch tape or whatever and just having those tiny strips would save HOURS of my life ;) Great job with the chevron recovery. I like that you shared the disaster nails though, because we allllll have em at times. :)
