ASBMF Challenge Day 4: April Showers

For this challenge I really wanted to do something that was outside the box.  I didn't want to do what would be expected or predictable.  Of course the question was, then what do I do????  I spent some time on Google Images and then the following picture jumped out at me:

I loved the idea of looking up at storm clouds at night and watching the rain fall!  Inspiration!!!!

I started with 2 coats of Essence Black is Back.  This is a new Essence, for me, that I picked up a few weeks ago at Ulta.  Just like all of the Essences that I have used before, the formula is perfect.  I don't really need to spend much time talking about it, this polish speaks for itself!  Just look how perfect it lays on my nails and how shiny it is (no top coat and only CND Stickey as a base).  It is simply a gorgeous black!

When I began planning out my steps, I figured that I would just sponge on a white polish for the storm clouds.  The longer I looked at the picture the clouds looked more gray and I thought why not try the Saran Wrap mani, thank you Nailed It!  I applied 1 coat of NYC Sidewalkers, balled up a small piece of Saran Wrap and dabbed my nail.  Make sure that you do each nail one at a time if you try this. You don't want the polish to dry, it needs to be wet when you start dabbing.  This is my new FAV!!!  It is so easy and you nails look so cool when your done!!

Next, I needed to add my raindrops.  I decided to use NYC French Tip White.  Remember you are seeing these as if you are looking up at the stormy sky and seeing the raindrops slowly falling around you, starting out small and getting bigger.  Yes, I do realize that my nails have a galaxy feel to them.  After I did the dots I was thinking that Pirouette My Whistle might have worked better for the raindrops.

I topped the design with 2 coats of NYC, which really smoothed everything out.

I am completely in love with this design!  I love what the Saran Wrap does to the polish, its like pretty smoky clouds!
So what do you think?  Does it remind you of a stormy night?  I could of said April Snow Shower seeing that it was snowing here Monday! :)
