Summer Challenge: Day 22 - Wimbledon

For those of you who have been living under a rock, :), Wimbledon is a huge tennis championship that is held every year in the London suburb of Wimbledon.  I believe it is considered to be the oldest tennis championship.  It is also a movie staring the yummy Paul Bethany!!  I would much rather watch the movie than the championship! :)

I didn't want to do a "tennis" design for this challenge.  I spent some time looking through the official Wimbledon site seeking inspiration.  It finally came via a polo shirt and the colors of Wimbledon, a very pretty green and purple!

I started with my brand new OPI Matte Alpine Snow.  This is the polish that I stumbled upon at a local grocery store.  They had a unique collection of OPIs, even some black labels.  The polish needed a really good shake.  The first coat was horrible!  I ended up with 3 coats and it was still a tad streaky.  But it is a really pretty white.  I had a really clean look to it.

I added my green using NYC High Line Green, a striping brush and a dotting tool. I do wish that I would have taped the lines so they were cleaner.  The stripes came from the polo shirt, it had diagonal stripes.  The dots came from the Wimbledon symbol which is a circle.

I added my purple with the same tools and OPI Funkey Dunkey. Again, wish my lines were straighter.

I topped it off with 2 coats of SV.

There are some things that I would have done different with this design, but overall I like the fact that its not a "tennis" design and more Wimbledon design.
