True Blood Nails

I know that summer has started when the new season of True Blood hits HBO!  That's tonight!!!  WOOHOO!!!

I started reading the Sookie series 8 years ago when I was teaching in Virginia.  The library at the high school I taught at was more for the adults than the students.  The librarian stocked all the books that she wanted to read and this series was one of them.  This was during the time that Harry Potter was still popular and vampires were just starting to trend.  I was hooked from the first book. Mostly because Charlaine Harris is such a good storyteller.  When True Blood started I was so excited to see Sookie's world come to life, even though there would be changes to the book.  This is the first book adaption that I was not bothered by.  There have been many changes made to the story but the writing and acting is so good that I don't even notice.  I love what Alan Ball has done to this series and my only hope is that it continues!

On to the mani!!  I had a vague idea of what I wanted to do and I added to my ideas by browsing Google.  I came across Kayla Shevonne's nails from Halloween.  The bite marks were perfect!

I started with 2 coats of OH MY GOSH Nude Champagne.  I love this polish!  You will have to wait for the review! :)
The sun was setting as I was doing this design, so the pictures have a yellow tone to them.

Next, I added blood splatter, using a straw and China Glaze Velvet Bow, a beautiful blood color! :)

For my bite marks I did three different things.  First I sponged a little Velvet Bow for the bruising around the bite holes. Next I used my dotting tool and China Glaze Liquid Leather to add the black dots, for the holes.  Thirdly, I used the same dotting tool to drag Velvet Bow down from the marks like flowing blood.

I topped it all off with 2 coats of HK Girl.  I am really loving this top coat!  So far so good! :)

I was also lucky enough to actually meet Charlaine Harris 2 years ago at a book signing in Boonsville, MD.  I thought I would share the picture and now you all will know what I look like! :)

Will you be watching the season premiere of True Blood tonight?

  16. Love the mani, especially the fang bites! I just watched it tonight...twice haha. I started to read the series when I was working at a bookstore and True Blood was coming on its second season. I didn't have HBO then so I read the first 2, possibly 3 books. I don't know what happened but I stopped around when the witches first came on scene. I guess the HBO series was enough for me, better visuals ;) Team Eric! :P
