Summer Challenge: Day 34 - Bastille Day

Before I get into today's challenge I want to share some of the things I picked up today!
I learn from some fab ladies in a nail polish group that TJ Maxx was selling Deborah Lippman's for $5.99!  Of course I had to run out to my local store and check it out.  I was able to pick up the only 3 in the store!

I also, finally, received my free Lex polish that I ordered through sneakpeeq. It took over 2 weeks for this polish to get to me!  Hopefully it was worth the wait!

Lastly, and this is connected to today's challenge, I picked up something interesting from Michael's.  My plan was to pick up some craft scissors, but I walked out with some pretty cool glitter.

If you are a follower of The Nailasaurus, you would have seen that she has been doing some awesome designs with large hex glitter.  When I saw the above collection of glitter that was all I thought about, all the cool designs I could create.  I wasn't going to buy it because Martha Stewart is overpriced, but I had a coupon! Score!
I decided to try out the glitter on today's challenge.

Bastille Day is a French independence celebration, if you didn't know, so I went with the colors of France; red, white and blue.  Yes, also the colors of America. :)  I needed to apply the hexes while the polish was wet so I didn't take step by step pictures.  I applied 1 coat of Milani White on the Spot before each application. I used the following 2 hexes.

I applied the hexes using the pointy end of a wooden cuticle pusher.  I did add a top coat of NYC when I was done.

I didn't have perfect application, which I didn't expect the first time.  The nice thing about these hexes is that they are very thin, so they don't stick up off the nail, other than where I made mistakes.  I think these hexes will lead to some very interesting designs.
