Summer Challenge: Day 56 - Candy Floss

Can you believe that there are only 10 challenges left?!?!?!?  It feels like I just started the challenge, but I felt the same way about summer and here I am back to work, getting ready to teach a new group of students.  Man...where does the time go?!?!?!?

There are different names for the technique of today's challenge, spun sugar is my favorite, which lead to the sugary, cotton candy design that I did today. Candy Floss is the UK name for US cotton candy, if you didn't already figure that out. :)

I started with a new polish, claire's Marshmallow Dream.  This polish caught my eye because it is white and glittery.  How can you say no to that???  It is   actually really sheer, and after I applied 2 coats I started thinking that maybe I should of put a coat of white down first.  O-well.  The larger glitter in the polish does change color depending on the light but I had a hard time capturing that in the photos.

For the floss, I used two unnamed Color Club pinks, a light and dark.  In the first picture you can see the messy part.

I then added 2 HEAVY coats of NYC.  The polish is really thick so the top coat really didn't so much to smooth out the design.

I love the glitter as the base! It makes my nails look like yummy candy!

  5. I'm glad you explained what candy floss was. I kept reading everyone's post and asking myself wth are they talking about. I really like the way your nails turned out, they look so scrum diddly umptious. I would probably peel the strings off throughout the day if I did this to my nails.

P.S. You wondered about how Flormar that I've showed in my latest post would look with a matte top coat, so I added a photo of matte look to my todays post :)
