First Splatter Mani

I have been wanting to try this design for some time now but other ideas got in the way.  I think I need to start keeping an idea book.  I probably come up with 5-10 ideas a day but when it comes to actually doing one I forget what designs I thought of!  Guess that means I'm getting old. :(

First, 2 coats of China Glaze White on White. I am trying out different whites to see which one I really like.  So far Marshmallow is still my favorite white.  WoW is streaky but you wouldn't notice with a design on top.

First color, butter LONDON Cheeky Chops.  I forgot to take a picture of the straw I used.  It's not a coffee straw but it's not much bigger.  It looks like a mini straw.  It also took me awhile to get the air pressure right, as you can tell.

Second color, Essie Turquoise & Caicos.

Third color, butter LONDON Macbeth.

Fourth color, butter LONDON Minger.  It looks really bright in the pictures but its actually more like a burnt orange.

Fifth color, China Glaze Electric Beat.

Next, I topped it off with 1 coat of NL.  I have been kind of obsessed with NL lately, if you couldn't tell.

Lastly, 2 coats of NYC.  The following pictures are taken in different types of lighting to try and get an accurate picture of the colors.

Lily Likes It

Okay...let me explain the title!  I asked the hubby to name this design because I was blocked.  We have one house plant, a Peace Lily.  This plant is like a child to us!  Her name is Lily, the hubby talks to her, feeds her and loves her! :)  Due to the flower design of this mani he felt that Lily would like it, hence the title! :)

When I started this mani I had a specific design in mind, however I made some changes along the way.
First, 2 coats of Revlon Slate Blue and China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.  This blue is such a pretty color.  I can only describe it as a creamy blue with a hint of gray.  It is also opaque in 1 coat!  Flip Flop is a bright, neon pink. I would say that its a neon, pastel pink because it does have a softness to it.  Unfortunately you cannot see this in the pictures because of my camera and the lighting!  FF also does not dry shiney.  It looks kind of rubbery.

Next I added a stamp using BM11 and China Glaze White on White.  I was going to add the same stamp out the bottom of the nail using a pink polish but changed my mind, as you will see.

I already knew that I was going to add colored centers to the flowers using Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow and Wet'n'Wild Candy-licious/Rose bonbon, however I decided to add dots instead of another stamp of flowers.

Next, I added a coat of NL.

I topped the mani off with 2 coats of NYC.

Swapping

Hello my awesome followers! :)

Guess what?!?!? I am totally interested in swapping polishes!  Now, US followers please don't be offended, I am mostly interested in swapping for polishes that I cannot get here in the States.  If anyone would be interested in swapping with me let me know.  We can start an email conversation to figure out the swapping terms.

I do have 1 bottle of Whimsical left and a bottle of Sinful Colors Cinderella.  I actually have 2 bottles of Cinderella but I promised one bottle to Ashley at Art Evolve.

It's a "swapportunity"! :)

Spring Argyle

If you haven't noticed the majority of my designs lately have focused on spring colors.  I am so ready for winter to be over and spring to arrive!  So this is reflected in the bright colors I have been using.  Today's mani is no exception!

Essence nail polishes are one of my new loves!  I love the colors, formula and quick dry time.  I really wish that a bigger selection was available here in the US!  I am feeling deprived by only being able to purchase the small bottles from Ulta, and they sell out so fast!

For this mani I started with 2 coats of Essence Mellow Yellow and Lime Up. The creaminess of these two colors is amazing!

Next, I added the argyle design using m60 and China Glaze White on White.

Then I added a coat of NL.

I was going to leave the mani like this, however after staring at it for awhile I decided to use up the tape strips I cut for my last design.  I went back and added a french tip to each nail using the opposite color.

During a recent trip to Wal-Mart I noticed that the NYC polishes had coupons attached to them,  $.50 off a $1.99 polish!  I have heard a lot of good things about the NYC fast drying top coat, so I decided to try it out, because I would save money!  I am very happy with this top coat! Not only is it cheap but it also dries really fast, has awesome shine and no shrinkage!  Why should I pay $5 more on OTD?!?!  If you haven't tried it I recommend it highly! Great top coat!

It Went A Bit Nautical

Yesterday I decided to take the day off of blogging to get some much needed cleaning done around the house. (My polish obsession has gotten in the way of my house chores!)  However, instead of cleaning I spent the evening play video games.  :)  Maybe I can get to the cleaning this weekend! :) (If I don't have to do my nails!)

Back to the mani....
I was getting kind of blocked on design ideas, which I find very frustrating, and then I decided to try a taping design.  I was going to use spring colors and when I decided on the following polishes I thought they were spring-y, but when I was finished the design looked more nautical.  Not saying that this is bad...it does look pretty cool.

First, 2 coats on each finger of China Glaze White on White, Ahoy and Electric Beat, I wasn't going to add Electric Beat to my collection, because I have a lot of blue, but how can you say no to such a pretty color!?!  On my thumb, I used both Ahoy and Electric Beat.

Here are all the stripes of tape I cut for the stripes.  I used painters tape, but I am thinking that I would probably get cleaner lines with scotch tape.

The finished product with 2 coats of OTD.
