ASBMF Challenge: Day 9 - Fresh Cut Lawn

If you didn't notice yet I am actually completing 2 Challenges at the same time, ASBMF and Summer Challenge.  I also signed up to start another summer challenge that starts June 20.  After figuring out how many challenges are left in ASBMF I would end up doing 3 challenges at once!  That's a bit much!  I decided that I would double up on ASBMF so that I finish it before the next challenge. You will probably see another ASBMF challenge either on Sunday or Monday, let's see how the weekend goes! :)

Back to this challenge! Today I was supposed to interpreta  fresh cut lawn on my nails.  If you are following some of the other lovely ladies completing this challenge you would see some awesome fresh cut lawn designs.  They really upped the bar for me!  I decided to use my new striping skills and portray a yard scene on my nails.  I think it turned out pretty cool!

I started by applying 2 coats of Essence You Belong to Me.  I think that my bottle is going bad because it applied streaky and took so long to dry that I ended up applying SV so that I could start my taping! Bad bottle! (In my most motherly tone!)

For step 2, one at a time, I taped off each finger in order to apply my "grass".  Painters tape is not the best tape to use, because its not sticky enough, but I bought a roll so I fell obliged to use it!

Step 3, I applied my grass using Sinful Colors Nail Art in Jungle and Color Club Art Club in Mint.  All I did was add layers in order to build up the grass.

For step 4, I used my dotting tools to add the clouds, NYC French Tip White, and sun, Essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine.

Lastly, I topped it all off with 2 coats of SV.

I really like my little yard scene.  I thought about adding a lawn mower, but I don't have those mad skills, yet!  I really like my grass!  So cool!! :)

Summer Challenge: Day 7 - Sunshine

Yesterday you saw my sunrise and today you get to see my sunshine.  I had a couple different ideas for this design, stamping being the main idea, and then I thought about sponging.  Sponging is one of my favorite techniques.  Its not about being perfect. It's more about finding perfection in the abstract.  It also usually turns out looking so much better than I think it will!

I started with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Air.  This is the first time I used it and it is SO pretty!  A tad streaky, will probably need 3 coats, but I knew that I would be adding to it so streaky was okay.

Next, I sponged on Essence Let's Get Lost.  I am building up the different blues in the sky to give the design dimension.

Third, sponged Essence You Belong To Me.

I added the sunshine by sponging Essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine.

The last sponging layer was to add the fluffy clouds using NYC French Tip White.

To smooth everything out I added 2 coats of SV.

I LOVE my sunshine!  It actually kind of reminds me of a Monet or Van Gogh painting.  :)

Summer Challenge: Day 6 - Summer Sunrise

Woo Hoo...Day 6...only 60 more challenges!!  ;P

Today's challenge is all about sunrise.  To be honest I was kind of nervous about this challenge because I wasn't sure how I was going to pull this off and have it look good.  It was actually a lot easier than I thought!

I started with 2 coats of Essence Wake Up.

Using a eyeshadow applicator, my new favorite method of sponging!, I sponged on Zoya Pippa.

I added some trees using Essence Black is Back and RA115Black is Back is awesome for stamping!

Using the eyeshadow applicator again and Black is Back, I sponged the tips to look like land.

I topped it off with 2 coats of NYC.   Which I am not happy with right now!  I really need to find a new top coat!

I think it turned out looking like the African plain.  I love it!

In Remembrance

I have created a very special design in honor of all the men and women who have given their lives in order to protect the freedoms I enjoy everyday.  I completely respect anyone that volunteers to fight for my country knowing that there is a possibility that they may never come home again. My Grandpap served in the Airforce during WWII and my Dad served in the Airforce during Vietnam.  Thank you all for being braver than I could ever be!

I started with 2 coats of Milani White on the Spot.  Unfortunately, I had some bubbling this time.  I think I shook it to forcefully.

I added blue stripes using my stripper and Essence Walk on Air.

I left out a step when taking pictures.  I also striped a red line using OPI Quarter of a Cent-Cherry.  I added some dots using the same colors.

I thought that the design needed some sparkle so I added 2 coats of NL, and 1 coat of NYC.

Thank you again for your enduring courage!

Nails Inc. Wardour Mews

Thanks to the awesome Abbie at AbbieNail, I have a set of amazing Nail Inc. polishes to share with you! I believe it is called the Midas Touch Collection.

Today I have Wardour Mews. This is not your typical purple polish!  This sheer purple duochrome with flashes of gold foil.  The effect is just...WOW!  The type of light and how it hits the nail changes what you see.  Because it is a sheer polish I applied 3 coats for opaque coverage.  The application was smooth with hardly any clean-up.

There is no base coat or top coat, just the polish in all its glory.

So what do you think? Pretty stunning, huh?
