Digit-al Dozen Does: Books - Outlander

Today's inspiration comes from a series that I am devoted to!  When I was in high school I came across a new book that I instantly fell in love with.  It became my all time favorite and is a book that I have read many times, including all the books in the series.

The book is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.

From Goodreads:
The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon--when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach--an "outlander"--in a Scotland torn by war and raiding Highland clans in the year of Our Lord...1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into intrigues and dangers that may threaten her life...and shatter her heart. For here she meets James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, and becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

I love all the elements of this story! It takes place in Scotland, it's historical fiction, is a love story and involves time travel!  This is the series that got me interested in time travel novels.  I specifically love time travel novels that take place in the middle ages.  Something about big, strong knights or men in kilts!

I could have gone with images from the original cover for my design but I decided to go with the new cover.

I started with two coats of Rimmel 60 Seconds Blue Eyed Girl.

For my design I used MASH35, BM08 and Essie Good as Gold.

I know my flower isn't a thistle, but it is close enough.  I really like the simplicity of the design.

I wanted to share my favorite quote from the book.  These are the vows Jaime and Claire said to each other at their wedding.  I really wanted to use them in my wedding but the hubby just didn't understand!

Ye are Blood of my Blood, and Bone of my Bone,
I give ye my Body, that we Two might be One.
I give ye my Spirit, 'til our Life shall be Done.”

Are you familiar with this series?  If so what's your favorite part?
