The Digit-al Dozen Does: Childhood - Books

Oh ya...it's Digit-al Dozen Week again!  Admit it, this is your favorite time of the month!  So many amazing designs! I know it's my favorite.

This month we are creating designs inspired by our childhood.  I was really worried about this theme.  What the heck was I going to do?? Then how the heck was I going to pull of the designs??  It took me awhile but I was able to narrow it down to things that give me the best memories from my childhood.  So far I am extremely happy with my designs.  As I write this I still have two designs to create and I keep wavering on the last one.  It keeps changing every day.  Hopefully I can make a final decision and stick to it!

Today's design is inspired by my love of books.  As a child I would devour books.  I would spend hours upon hours in the public library reading and taking home stacks of books.  I wasn't picky.  I read everything that caught my eye from Encyclopedia Brown to The Babysitter's Club.  I loved escaping into the books and having adventures.  Just thinking about some of the books I read gives me wonderful feelings of happiness.  I don't read as much as I did as a kid but it is still one of my favorite ways to spend my time.

This design is the perfect representation of what I love about reading.  Love, travel/adventure, magic, fairy tales, and The Babysitter's Club!
I am now rocking some serious nubbins! I had a really bad break on my index finger and lowered the others to match.  My poor nubbins.

I started with two coats of White.

I added my pages using Black Swift and MoYou London Scholar 02.

I used a variety of colors and images to add my representations.  It will be easier if I just list them.
Thumb - Cheeky Jumbo Plate 4 and Blackberry - The Babysitter's Club
Index - PUEEN 03 and Guava - Fairy Tales
Middle - MoYou London Princess 09 and Passion Fruit - Magic
Ring - Winstonia On the Road and Blue Plum - Travel/Adventure
Pinkie - Bundle Monster H18 and Pomegranate - Love

I had to add a little more "magic" to the design!  This was easily accomplished with one coat of Northern Lights.

This design perfectly shows my love of reading.  I truly believe that all the books I have read have helped me become the person I am today.  Reading is one of the best things you can encourage your children to do!

Make sure you visit these ladies and check out their amazing designs!

  1. Cute mani! I was the same and read a ton when I was little. I was allowed to stay up late if I was reading and I've always been a night owl so it worked out well :-)

  8. Perfect representation of a childhood memory! Really nice and wearable nails too! I was also a reader and miss the dedication I could put into it as a child, now there are a million other things to do first before I can open a book.

  9. I spent a lot of time reading as a kid, even when I was a teen until more interesting things or other priorities came along. I find I can't read too much at night anymore as I get so wrapped up in a book that before I know it, it's 4 am and I have to get up for work in a few hours!
